Dove’s fleece arrived from a Midwestern farm whose small flock consists of predominately Lincoln Longwool sheep. Originally from the Eastern coast of England, Longwools are known for their heavy, long and lustrous fiber. Dove’s defined curls are shiny, smooth and strong. The color is obtained from botanical dyes and is the palest seashell pink with hints of coral.
This piece is quite resistant and will work well as a rug or on furniture. The felted base is made from undyed American Merino and Targhee wools, it has texture, resilience and a smattering of tiny flecks of dried grass from its past life in the pasture.
