Felted lampshades for the Table in the Trees

...As the guests make their way through the vineyards and up the hill above the winery, the landscape shifts from agricultural and organized back to its original ecosystem, the wild Oak Savannah. The road winds through the woods and reveals a long table that twists sinuously through the trees, illuminated by glowing woolen lamps floating above. The lamps engage the site and the imagination; they are a cohesive element in the ritual of coming together to share a meal in the forest.

The composition, color, and texture of each lamp are unique, just like the sheep that make up the flock that graze the vineyards where the wool was sourced. The wool is fluffy and buoyant with softly blended textures of cream and cocoa curls that push outward from the body of the frame. Even as they transmit the animal, forests, and fields of their origin, they twinkle like cheeky lamb bonbons overhead. The lamps evoke cottonwood fluff floating through the forest or fireflies on a summer evening. Animistic and playful, they cast warm pools of light on the table, the guests, and into the green canopy above…
